Homeschooling — View On

We often are asked about our stance on public school vs. private Christian school vs. homeschool education for children. 

John and Stasi's own boys have attended public, private, and charter schools at various times, as well as a few years of homeschooling! Our own staff kids also cover the spectrum: public, private, charter, and homeschool.) As you can see, there is no one-size-fits-all answer.

You know your children the best, as does God, so the best we can offer is for you to walk with God in the decision—we are confident that he will show you and your family the path of Life and what is best for your child(ren)!

While we don't have any resources about "the best methods of education", John has shared a few thoughts on educating boys:

"The question of the best way to teach boys is a big one, and would probably take a book or two to best explain. But let me offer a couple of thoughts.

First off, I think that we ought to return to separate education for boys and girls. Their learning styles, their development of maturity, and their social styles are so different from one another that it would be best to go back to the wisdom of centuries past, which educated boys and girls separately.

A further thought would be the need for male teachers to be a key part of their education. Not exclusively, for boys have a lot to learn simply by paying respect to a woman who is their teacher. But boys need male role models, and for the most part, they respect them and therefore learn from them.

As to the boy, asking them to sit still in a chair for long periods of time is the beginning of the wrong way to educate them. Boys are active, and boys learn by doing, boys and need experiential education that provides for a lot of activity".
